ABOUT QIGONG

ABOUT QIGONG

If the inner balance is disturbed, the entire human system is affected. Mental, physical and spiritual illnesses can be the result. The harmonious flow of energy is disturbed by stress, shocks, old traumas, illness, inner unrest, fears, wind and weather and much more. This causes blockages in the meridians (energy pathways of the body) and the Qi can no longer flow freely. It is similar to a dam in a wide river. Roughly translated, Qi means life energy. The meridians form a large energy network that flows through our entire body, on the surface and into the depths of the body. The meridians are immaterial, but after some practice they can be felt, for example through warmth or a slight tingling sensation. The length of time after which the Qi can be felt is completely individual and depends on the practice.

Through the combination of movement, breathing and mental focus, Qigong mobilizes the flow of energy in the body's meridians and can bring misdirected energy back into harmony. The body's energy balance is strengthened and the body becomes more resistant to negative influences and disturbances. The exercises can vary greatly, from very calm to very active movements. Qigong also includes silent qigong and meditation.

The exercises in Qigong are well over a thousand years old and are directly linked to traditional Chinese medicine.

As Claudia Rehrmann practises different directions of movement, other directions of movement are also incorporated into the courses. Her courses therefore differ from traditional Qigong courses.
